Celebrating Chinese New Year with Olivia

To celebrate Chinese New Year this year, we went out for a chinese dinner with some friends and brought Olivia along. This restaurant is located in Flushing, which is like a mini Chinatown. Of course, the restaurant was packed as it was a Sat night and 2 days before CNY.

The food is pretty good. We had fish maw soup, shrimp with mayo, chinese brocolli, chicken with peanuts, duck with seafood, steam fish and last but not least, noodles. Olivia loves soup and rice. As you can see from the photo, she is concentrating on having her soup.

It was a really cold night but Olivia had fun walking on the streets after dinner, as there were lots of lights and sights to see.

On the first day of Chinese New Year, I gave her 'ang pow' and taught her to say 'hong bao'. To get her to dress up in the cheongsam, I tricked her by saying let's play dress up and she got very excited.

There were 3 outfits to put on and she was very cooperative on the first two. Smilling and saying 'Gong Xi Fa Cai' for me to snap her photo.

By the 3rd outfit, she lost interest and this is what I got. She's saying "Ma...are we done yet?" LOL....

Awww...she looks so adorable in the chinese traditional costumes. Lovely...too bad she got bored when it came to wearing the pink one...can't blame her la...it's tiring for little ones to keep changing outfits ;p
