Chap Goh Meh

Today is the fifteenth and final day of the Chinese New Year celebration. The term is from the Hokkein dialect and refers to the fifteenth day of the first month. In Southeast Asia, it is also known as the Chinese Valentine's Day.

On this day, young unmarried women gather to toss mandarin oranges into the sea, in a hope that their future spouse will pick it up. According to Wikipedia, this custom originated in Penang, Malaysia! Wow...I never knew that.

Question to my ladies readers, how many of you have thrown 'kam' before on Chap Goh Meh? Come on....fess up. :-)
