Clock Watcher

When I went back to work after my maternity leave, I became a clock watcher. :-D Everyday at 5pm, I zoomed out the door to pick up my darling daughter from daycare. Olivia is there from 8am – 6pm and I really do not want to let her stay later than 6pm.

Clock on office wall

The cost for daycare is based on how many hours your child is there and in NY, it’s EXPENSIVE, folks.

So far, my work has not suffered and my bosses have not given me any grief, yet. To all you mothers out there, if given a choice, what would you like to be:

(a) Full time working (outside of home) mom (FTWM)
(b) Part time working mom (PTWM)
(c) Stay at home mom (SAHM)

I would love to work part time with a full time pay. :-)

Yes,I know how expensive day care in Long Island. They wanna $10 a hour from me and hubby refuse my baby to go to day care.So I'm a SAHM.But since you live near Brooklyn and Queens, you still can send your baby to chinese nanny. They charge by month.10 hours a day and 6 days a week for $900,not bad,,rite?.If I live near Queens,I will send my baby to this chinese nanny.too bad,I'm too far away

beachlover, I don't live near Brooklyn and Queens is not that near. Depend on where in Queens, it's about 1/2 hr to 1 hr drive from Oceanside.

The daycare that Olivia goes to is only 5 minutes from our house. Where in Queens is this chinese nanny?

I gave up my 9-5, 5days week job when my son was 8mths old but I don't think I would want to stay at home 7days so I went back to school.

So now I am working 2 days' job and spend the rest of my times at home and at the same time building up a home base business and also do my investment.

It is hard especially for us who are not from here. But, everyone of us has our opinion like all of us has a belly button :):). We all make choices everyday :).

It is hard to be a SAHM and it is also hard to be a FTWM :).

Hooi Imm,
It would be nice to work part time with full time pay. If we can afford it, I would like to stay at home and send the kids to school.
